Announcing the SRC 2014 poster!

This year's Summer Reading Club poster
"For this year's poster, children's Authorstrator Jeremy Tankard, explores our theme of Funny Business by asking the timeless question: "Why did the chicken cross the road?" The result is an engaging Chicken whose road-crossing motivation is the humour-filled possibilities of a joke book (easily acquired by joining the Summer Reading Club, of course!). Our Chicken resides in a delightfully zany cartoon-world of appealing animals who improbably drive, ride, and fly a variety of vehicles."

Storytime anyone?
Suggestions for public children's librarians that might work with primary students.

"Do you have regular storytimes? If so, congratulations! You're uniquely positioned to provide terrific Readers' Advisory for young patrons. You've got a known demographic – parents and children in a specific age range -- which allows you to build positive relationships, often week by week. Through regular conversation and observation of these kids' reading habits, you can ensure that not only will youngsters enjoy hearing you read books to them, but also leave with a stack of books to enjoy at home."
